Your favorite show is playing, you are in your PJs and you are snuggled up with candles for a relaxing night at home. What's missing from this picture, a glass of wine (or two) to take the edge off, but why spend $15 for a bottle? While I am under the recent college graduate salary the only option for wine night is usually the $7.99 selections from Trader Joes, but Excelsior is actually a tresaure! You must try this wine out, especially when you have splurged on "Eataly" supplies for making your dinner. Kiss Yellow Tail and Cupcake goodbye and spend the same on this well balanced wine for the same price!
This summer was the quickest I have ever seen! With a new season on the horizon, writing this post on restaurants to visit in Chicago has been on my to do list for months.
For those traveling to the city, or if you are a local and have not visited the hot spots below, you must check them out for your next night out!
These restaurants are located in a variety of Chicago neighborhoods and have all been the most ideal atmospheres to enjoy with your date, family and friends.
You are transported to an Italian trattoria when visiting this beautiful, intimate restaurant in the West Loop. My boyfriend and I were able to spend the perfect Valentine’s Day evening here and we reveled in the classic, Italian dining experience. They offer tastes of the different regions and have a lovely outdoor patio.
The Boarding House
A foodie’s paradise! Walking into the restaurant you must first experience the luminous, luxurious bar for a well-crafted cocktail and then head upstairs to the large dining room displaying true architectural genius. You will feel very special in this River North hot spot. It is not crowded and is a great place for larger groups. A beautiful space, incredible menu and wine list!
Girl & the Goat
Another major foodie destination that has become very popular in the trendy West Loop neighborhood. They are known for their legendary dish: the "roasted pig face" which fills the restaurant’s Instagram page. Make your reservation in advance because everyone wants to come here to try Top Chef winner Stephanie Izard’s latest creations.
While shopping on Michigan Ave. you must stop at this fun southwestern/American restaurant with live jazz. The French dip sandwich is out of this world!
If you are looking for the perfect bright sunny place to enjoy a fun brunch with a cozier, “neighborhoody” vibe, this spot in Lincoln Park is tough to beat. Take a cookie from the bakery as you leave, they are the best treat I have EVER had. The pizza place next door, Stella Barra, is also very legit.
Farm to table, five star dining experience you will never have anywhere else. This romantic restaurant hosts a James Beard Award winning chef and has one of the best views in the city. Escape to the park for an evening you will never forget!
My boyfriend and I are very passionate about French cooking and this warm bistro in Lincoln Square has been our most tasty dining experience yet. The Poulet Rôti Forestière was one of best meals I have ever had.
City girl, traveler, foodie and film fanatic sharing stories on every day, attainable luxury. Passionate about speaking Italian, exploring, cooking, and crafting.
