After reading an article from The Guardian, “The science of shopping: digital innovations shaping the future of retail” It became clear to me how the digital world is about to revolutionize the retail experience at a rapid pace.
The over load of mobile apps created to make shopping easier on your phone, may or may not appeal to all digitally savvy people. Often we are overwhelmed when browsing the app store because if you have not been told to download an app, that has been recommended or is a top download, it’s hard to choose from the multitude of options.
Instagram, Pinterest, bloggers and vloggers are top platforms that allow for the democratization of fashion putting inspiration into the hands of every consumer. As people’s engagement increases online, businesses now have the need to develop a unique strategy to best communicate with their target markets.
Virgin Media set the scene for a series of events in London this month, predicting new innovations on the rise in retailing and digital shopping over the next 30 years.
One predicted industry trend is the power smaller companies have to use high tech shopping concepts in stores. As larger retailers face the demand to spread technology across many locations, startups and small businesses may launch these concepts faster.
Also, changes in users’ shopping capabilities will include: mobile voice operated shopping applications (to avoid the tedious typing of bank card details), 3D virtual store experiences online, and applications for fitting room feedback from other friends and users on mobile devices.
Are you ready for the digital fashion revolution? Would love to hear your comments on the article.
Bucatini alla Amatriciana
Mario Batali's recipe
There is no question long distance relationships take work. Cooking together has always been part of our weekly date night traditions. In the kitchen we have learned a lot about communication and learning to work together as a couple. Even when things get a little messy. Not to mention, my mom always told me the key to a man's heart is through his stomach. There is no better feeling than whipping up a big plate of pasta for your man.
As he questioned the tiny counter space in my Brooklyn apartment compared to Chicago, we managed to pull off the perfect balance of salty and spicy in this classic Roman dish.
The recipe is easy to follow with simple ingredients for special date night dining at home.
Tip: If he likes cheese, use a peeler to get larger chunks of romano on top. Why not?
Also: Pair with a Cabernet Sauvingnon or Malbec to offset the spicyness with something sweeter.
